Episode 53

How Do Find (And Keep) Great Employees?

I want to talk about something that's near and dear to my heart as an entrepreneur: how to find and keep great employees. Over the years, I've learned that building a strong team is essential for the success of any business, and there are some key signs that I look for when hiring new team members.

What are the characteristics that I look for? Passion for learning and growing, ability to prioritize urgent and important tasks, passion for the company's mission and vision, and thinking beyond their job description. By looking for these, I've been able to build a strong team of talented individuals who are committed to the success of my business.

What you'll hear in this episode:

[2:46] They consistently hit deadlines, they're proactive in their work, and they're able to effectively manage their workload.

[6:49] They love learning and growing at a reasonable pace. They want to do well in their position.

[10:35] Genuine excitement about where the company is headed and alignment with your mission and values.

[12:55] Thinking beyond their job description. What it looks like and realistic expectations.

Jackie Koch

Hey, I’m Jackie Koch. I have over 15 years of experience prospecting talent and building teams for Fortune 500 companies, startups and small businesses in all types of industries.  Technically, I have an MBA from Concordia University, although I’d argue I learned more about growing and scaling a modern business over the last 5 years in the LA tech start up scene. There I built out recruiting and People Operations teams for high growth tech start ups. I love entrepreneurs and being one at heart, I started my own business during the pandemic. I’m the founder and CEO of People Principles where I help founders scale through fractional recruiting and people operations services.
